the first post

I finished David Leavitt's Lost Language of Cranes today. Later I went to see Jim Jarmusch's Broken Flowers in Louis Hartlooper. The man who gave an introduction to the movie said Bill Murray's character was similar to that in Lost in Translation, and that therefore these films were very much alike. I didn't like Lost in Translation one bit, therefore I didn't like Broken Flowers much either.
It seemed a good day to start a blog. I intend to make it as boring as possible so that some day, someone unintentionally would quote Madonna who, after reading Susan's diary in Desperately Seeking Susan says: "There must be a hidden meaning. Nobody writes this boring."

ps. my title comes from Jonathan Lethem's The Fortress of Solitude: "All was exemplary of daily life, the undertow of the normal."
